Job Description

The Staff Development/Infection Control Manager ensures that comprehensive education, training, orientation, and in-servicing is administered to all employees. Infection Control duties include responsibility for the development and implementation of an infection control program for all inpatient and Partial Hospital Programs to include the surveillance, prevention and control of infection to reduce the risks of acquiring and transmitting infection among patients and employees. Also to provide employee health services, patient and staff education and coordinates the Infection Control Committee. The Staff Development / Infection Control Manager functions in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Lakeside Behavioral Health and the Standards of Practice of the Center for Disease Control.

    Qualifications

Job Requirements

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.

Experience: One year clinical experience with a psychiatric mental health population preferred, 2 years experience in infection control practice preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Licensure and registration by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse..

Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing principles, working knowledge of microbiology, immunology and epidemiology, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management. Must have good organizational skills and ability to manage several computer databases. Demonstrates sound leadership skills and utilizes these skills in organizing the activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks of the Adult for a given shift; record of consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills to be an exemplary role model to others; displays basic knowledge of treatment procedures; interventions common to acute psychotic as well as to non-violent crises intervention practice; record of consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills to be a role model to others; basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult psychiatric population; application of this knowledge to adult nursing care; basic knowledge of medical terminology especially those terms associated with adult psychiatric care; through familiarity of psychopharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications with adult psychiatric population; basic teaching and training skills helpful; problem-solving; organizational and time management; crisis intervention skills; written and oral communication skills; skills in facilitating and/or co-facilitating process orientated and didactic groups; eligible for CPR and HWC certification; skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a variety of clinical and support team members; empathy for patients and their families; flexibility regarding hours and schedule worked; skills in maintaining information as highly confidential. In the absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization's orientation and training program.
