Vontier Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Hybrid in Janesville, Wisconsin

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Sr Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role is critical to the design and development of cutting-edge natural gas compression and refueling systems that meet evolving market demands.

What You Will Do (Job Responsibilities)

  • Design and Development: Create and refine mechanical designs for natural gas compression and refueling systems, ensuring they meet customer and market requirements and are in line with industry standards.

  • Problem-Solving: Tackle complex engineering challenges, often dealing with ambiguity, to develop effective solutions for natural gas fueling systems.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, assemblers, product managers, and sales, to ensure alignment of product design and customer expectations.

  • Testing: Define system first article testing to insure product reliability.

  • Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough research and stay up to date with the latest industry trends to inform design decisions.

  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation throughout the product development process to ensure clear communication and adherence to project timelines and specifications.

  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate the performance of existing products and suggest improvements or innovations for future designs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of experience in and engineering roles.

  • Proven experience in mechanical design and product development, preferably in the natural gas and hydrogen fuel systems industry.

  • Strong proficiency with Creo and AutoCAD software.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work through ambiguity.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong communication skills for sharing findings and collaborating with the engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience with the design and development reciprocating or screw compression equipment for the natural gas or similar industry.

  • Knowledge of natural gas and hydrogen regulations and standards.
