Application Engineer

Department: Sales, Marketing, and Product Management

Reporting To: Business Unit Manager

Compensation: $80,000 - $120,000 / year

Description

This position supports sales and ensures the correct product is identified for internal and external customer requirements and applications. Growth in sales is an expected result of good project management. Background and interests in Green Energy, IoT, AGV, Battery Backup, power supply, inverter, converter, energy storage and power applications are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Immediate AE will be 90% focused on Supercapacitor work.

  • Provide technical support between internal and external Customers & Distributors, as well as internal groups such as Regional Sales Mgrs, Local Sales Representatives, Customer Service, Product Management, factory production/ engineering personnel.

  • Understand the production process and the key raw materials used in each type of product.

  • Manage engineering projects and sizing modules from concept to mass production.

  • Define capacitor cell & module solutions, and options in cooperation with Product Management & other team members.

  • Provide technical, engineering and specification support for New Product Introductions.

  • Identify internal needs in support of growing capacitor revenues.

  • Learn and provide customers with key features & specifications of CDE standard product series.

  • Cross Reference support versus our competitors.

  • Expand on Customer friendly application notes.

  • Expand on whitepapers for product types and applications.

  • Generate charts and graphs as needed per series based on factory information and internal test results.

  • Develop and update calculation tools and materials specific to different markets and applications.

  • Generate CAD drawings required.

  • Provide application and product type training to customers and the sales channels.

  • Generate and present PowerPoint presentations.

  • Tradeshow support.

  • Manage life test lab equipment.

  • Life Test data analysis for factory and module design evaluation.

  • Verify factory manufacturing quality, by performing our own internal tests, recording data, and

  • Failure Analysis.

  • Corrective Action.

  • Standards, Agency Approval and Industry requirement support

  • Agency Approval oversight.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor’s Degree Electronics or Electrical Engineering

  • Computer Skills: Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, Python (preferred), Solid Works, Altium, Auto Cad-Inventor

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Energy storage solutions background

  • Power supply circuit design solutions, BMS design solutions,

  • Experience with Arbin or other Battery/Supercapacitor testing equipment preferred.

  • Applications sales experience would be a plus.

  • 3 - 5 years technical applications experience required

  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication. There will be many customer-facing engineering opportunities, via MS Teams, Email, Phone or by Visits.

  • Travel Required: 10 - 20%

One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting base pay for this role is targeted to be between $80,000 to $120,000 per year.

Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining us, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company. It is to be expected that candidates will come to us with different sets of skills and experiences and therefore will be paid at different points in the stated range.
