St. Peters Health Wellness Services Coordinator - 1.0 FTE in Helena, Montana

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): The Wellness Services Coordinator helps to coordinate the wellness services blood screenings and associated duties to schedule, prepare, document and deliver health outcome results to both individual patients and client groups. In addition, works with both SPH lab and SPH pharmacy to ensure delivery of all requirements for lab processing and scheduled delivery of annual flu immunizations. If candidate is an LPN or RN they will be expected to administer flu vaccine for clients. Along with other members of the Wellness team, helps to deliver the appropriate delivery of screening services and required follow-up calls. Underneath the Supervisor or Wellness Services, this team member works to keep client screenings results organized and submits/assists with client billing, patient deposits, and organization of all screening activities, records, and reports.

Serves as lead in the delivery and execution of health screenings for current wellness clients and SPH employees. Works with client to secure contracts and deliver outcomes and reports. Schedules dates, facilities and team members for screenings and works with Lab Manager to acquire extra phlebotomists if necessary. Performs follow-up with patients regarding their wellness screening results as required by the assigned Medical Officer. Utilizes specialized equipment and aseptic technique from wellness screenings to interpret, explain and educate the patient when needed while also recommending and scheduling physician follow-up for patients with abnormal results. Promotes the organization’s health and wellness program offerings as a resource to patients and SPH employees.

Provides one-on-one virtual or in person coaching to individuals seeking to achieve improved health and well-being. Provides individualized behavior change coaching to reduce or eliminate high-risk behaviors. Effectively discerns appropriate scope of practice for the coaching role and discusses any concerns with the immediate supervisor. Applies evidence-based strategies and guidance in telephonic coaching sessions for adoption of specific behaviors shown effective by research to accomplish improved health and health maintenance.

Provides care and is able to serve as knowledgeable trainer of wellness technicians in the following areas: phlebotomy on adults, taking body measurements using specialized equipment, confidentiality precautions, preliminary processing for lab, and transporting biological specimens. Also trains on the administration of accurate blood pressure readings, body mass index and body fat calculations, including education on normal values and process/procedure to educate the patient on implications of abnormal readings. Instructs technicians on how to maintain and calibrate all equipment and trains technicians and other support staff to assist in accurate documentation and delivery of wellness screening results.

Represents SPH at health screenings, various health fairs, and other community events. Assists Supervisor of Wellness Services in development and implementation of SPH marketing and community health outreach programs and events. Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: One to two years of clinincal or experience preffered, one to two years experience with health coaching preffered and approximately two to four years experience required in office functions and procedures, including ability to type efficiently and work effectively with data entry and data organization. Sufficient experience to demonstrate ability to accept both administrative and clinical responsibilities. Excellent organizational skills to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously, independent judgment to prioritize work with deadlines, and knowledge of various clinical equipment. Excellent communication skills, exemplary customer service and attention to detail required, along with excellent written and verbal skills to interact with SPH management and also members of the community. Possession of cognitive, organizational and emotional abilities to deal effectively with multiple stressors, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customer needs. Must have knowledge of data entry software such as Word and Excel and sufficient experience in using EMR systems and knowledge of HIPAA privacy laws. Working experience in patient education and wellness programs preferred.

EDUCATION: Bachelor or Associate degree in a health-related field required or equivalent experience/education in clinical settings (reviewed for each applicant on case-by-case basis). LPN certification required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Required Certifications: LPN Certification, Montana Driver’s License required, BLS required or within first 6 months of hire. Preferred Certifications: Phlebotomy certification, Wellness/Health Coach certification from a nationally recognized and accredited professional wellness coach training preferred (reviewed for each applicant on case-by-case basis).

Aptitudes: Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Open to feedback and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments.
