Cargill Maintenance Fitter in Footscray, Australia

Job Purpose and Impact

We have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Fitter to join Cargill's Canola Crush Facility in Footscray.

As part of a small and autonomous team, you will be responsible for maintaining optimum asset health for plant equipment, systems and structures. Providing a diverse work environment, you will work independently on individual assignments and support on larger cross team projects, with the opportunity to learn and support across all plant areas.

Within a supportive team environment, you will work collaboratively and communicate with various teams across the plant and play an important role in safety and addressing near miss/incident conditions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Operate and maintenance the seed processing facility in a safe, efficient and result oriented manner.

  • Adhere to all necessary housekeeping practices required to maintain the facility's hygienic condition.

  • Perform minor maintenance repair and/or project based work whilst on site in order to ensure peak operational performance of the production facility.

  • Adheres to work and safety instruction by taking an active role in contributing to building a safety culture.

  • Clearly demonstrates the ability to find and implement solutions that reduce the footprint of self and the workgroup on the environment.

  • Ensures compliance with Cargill's Safety and Environmental policy.

  • Contribute to the development of a food safety culture.

  • Adhere to processes and procedures, and directions in relation to food safety and quality management.

Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial chemical handling and manufacturing process experience would be highly desired

  • Basic computer literacy

  • Possession of a recognized metal trade will be a distinct advantage

  • Hold forklift and elevated work platform Operator certificate of competency or obtain one within 3 months of the appointment

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and proactive

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, use knowledge and initiative to problem solve promptly
