Description

Jennie Joiner with Robert Half is assisting our Eugene client with filling a Payroll Specialist position. In this role, you will be responsible for auditing and reconciling a wide range of personnel actions, unemployment insurance claims, and payroll documents for multiple companies, while also processing employee data and insurance claims. Our client will train to utilize Paychex payroll system but must have intermediate Excel, critical thinking skills as well as a high attention to detail. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of our client's payroll database and provide exemplary customer service to their employees. This position will be one of three Payroll Specialists processing payroll for multiple locations and the team is described as one that one that is collaborative and fun. Responsibilities

• Audit and reconcile a range of personnel actions, unemployment insurance claims, and payroll documents for various companies.

• Process employee data including new hires, changes, terminations, and additional earnings.

• Handle employee timecard data from the Paychex Time and Attendance system to payroll and reconcile variances.

• Develop a deep understanding of the Payroll Database to create Ad-Hoc reports on demand.

• Approve and release time in the time system and ensure payrolls are processed timely, accurately, and compliantly.

• Provide customer service to employees in the areas of pay, benefits, and taxes as they relate to their pay, and how to enter time or time off.

• Understand aspects of payroll in regard to payroll laws and regulations.

• Process insurance claims for all companies.

• Provide additional customer service in the Home Office by answering phones and processing daily e-mail for the Payroll Team and locations.

• Utilize skills in Accounting Functions, Benefit Functions, Payroll, Multi-state Payroll, Multi-State Processing, Paychex, Paychex Payroll, Microsoft Excel, Employee Relations, and Data Entry.

Requirements • Proficiency in managing accounting functions, including the ability to work with financial data and statistical information

• Experience in handling benefit functions, including the administration of employee benefits packages

• Proven expertise in managing payroll, including processing and distributing employee paychecks

• Knowledge of multi-state payroll and multi-state processing, with the ability to handle payroll for employees based in different states

• Familiarity with Paychex and Paychex Payroll systems, including the ability to manage payroll processing and reporting through these platforms

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use advanced functions for data analysis and reporting

• Strong skills in employee relations, with the ability to address employee queries and concerns about payroll and benefits

• Experience in data entry, with the ability to accurately input and update payroll and benefits data

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with team members and other stakeholders

• Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines

• Ability to maintain confidentiality, as the role involves handling sensitive employee data

• Familiarity with relevant federal and state laws related to payroll and benefits administration.
