Description of Job

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring a System Grant Accountant to join our System Office Finance team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for providing leadership, training, development, management, and coordination of all aspects of fiscal compliance for all CCCS grant awards being initiated for the System Office. You will serve as fiscal point of contact and provide technical assistance to Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) partners. Note: This position is term-limited through three years after the employee’s start date.

Duties Include:

  • Develop and maintain grant fiscal guidance and guidance documents (reporting and reimbursement forms, etc.).

  • Develop and deploy processes to distribute funds to colleges for program development and, where appropriate, business reimbursements. Manage distributions and reimbursements to IHEs and external entities and reporting in coordination with the specific grants.

  • Provide primary review of grant vouchers and prepare them for reimbursement (this includes transfer entries between CCCS and System Colleges). Revise and document procedures as related to the Grant requirements and reporting.

  • Determine allowable/unallowable costs per the Uniform Grant Guidance and EDGAR. Understand and apply other applicable federal regulations that govern the spending of federal dollars such as EDGAR, Uniform Grant Guidance, and Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA) to internal and external recipients for various Local, State, and Federal grant spending of the System Office.

  • Apply state regulations and fiscal rules that govern the spending of state pass-through and direct award dollars to internal and external grant spending. Discussions with Grant sub-recipients for maintenance of compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Reconcile, analyze, and maintain appropriate grant general ledger balances, as well as revenue and expenditures between CORE and Banner. Ensure the general ledger properly reflects grant activity on an accrual basis and prepare expenditure reports for various parties, as well as status reports to grant program staff, fiscal management, state and federal agencies, etc. All SLFRF related data may also have to be reported in various formats (Gravity, Companion Funds, State Building formats).

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Two years of accounting experience.

  • Experience with grant and/or compliance operations.

Work Location/Travel Expectations:

  • This position is located at 9101 E Lowry Blvd, Denver, CO 80230.

  • Travel is minimal, typically two or three conferences/trainings in or outside of Colorado.

  • Alternative work arrangements, including flexible schedules and remote work may be available. All work must be completed in the state of Colorado.
