Ford Performance is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engine Engineer with a strong background in engine systems engineering, and industrialization from concept to launch. This pivotal role within our organization requires a dynamic individual with a proven track record in delivering difficult engine programs from concept to production. This individual should have a strong knowledge of our research process, understand how technology can be fast tracked into production, and understand the fundamentals to deliver a high-quality design that will deliver a high-quality product in production. We want someone with a passion for high-performance vehicles, and a wide network of connections within Ford powertrain engineering.

What you'll do…

  • Lead the delivery of a new engine program including complete powertrain system integration and program delivery of quality, cost, weight, function and timing through to production.

  • Primary technical interface with core engine technical specialists to insure delivery of a quality system design. Focus on a robust DV/PV process from laying out the requirements to final sign-off.

  • Primary technical interface with engine plant and manufacturing engineering to insure a design that fits with the process and a process that meets commercial needs.

  • Technical support for vehicle program/platform and the Functional teams.

  • Technical management of all engine elements of this new engine and complexities with other variants for the engine plant and the vehicle plant .

  • Technical leadership for prototype builds.

  • Technical leadership for PT problem resolution.

  • Technical lead for PT team during launch.

This position requires a person with significant depth of knowledge in both engine components and systems engineering. We are pushing boundaries of a new ICE engine design and need someone that understands both the technical aspects of delivering a high-performance engine and the systems and team aspect of delivering a high-performance engine into a low volume production environment.

This requires a team player that can pull the team together to solve tough issues, leverage core resources, and make things happen quickly to resolve issues. The team is an outside contract team that requires significant interface and oversight.

Ford Performance runs at a higher “clock speed” than most organizations. The expectations are significantly increased with this position because the time to market for this project is cut from 42 months to sub-30 months, and the performance of the engine is BIC.

This person needs to be positioned with significant knowledge, and the ability to immediately pull in significant network technical expertise to solve issues and keep the program on track.

Technical oversight of this program will include a strong understanding of program management and project deliverables that align with Ford GPDS deliverable.

You'll have…

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Experience: A minimum of ten years of hands-on experience in the development of ICE powertrains, with a strong emphasis on high performance engines.

  • Automotive Expertise: In-depth knowledge of automotive powertrain systems, current & future.

  • Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects from conception to completion, meeting tight deadlines and budgetary constraints. We are looking for someone that has taken multiple high performance engine programs from launch to production.

  • Manufacturing Interface; We need someone with significant plant manufacturing interface experience. Ideally, this person has worked as an engine plant resident engineer, and as an engine PD launch person in a vehicle plant. We are looking for the right team player that can resolve difficult manufacturing and quality issues quickly.

  • Team Leadership: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey tough technical issue to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
