Ford Motor Company Fuel Economy and Performance Engineer in Columbus, Ohio

This team requests EST hours and we prefer candidates able to work hybrid from our Dearborn, MI office.

We are looking for a candidate that can lead vehicle program energy management (primarily Fuel Economy and Performance Feel) development from preprogram start to post-certification. Lead development and implementation of systems engineering to achieve best in class fuel economy. Develop CAE vehicle fuel economy models to walk to future model years. Engineer proposals to achieve fuel economy targets and work with interfacing engineering activities to ensure successful implementation. Vehicle testing and validation of subsystem performance on global fuel economy drive cycles. Develop timing and test plans for design validation work. Competitive analytical forecasting of fuel economy capability. Competitive vehicle testing and data analysis.

  • Lead the integration of Fuel Economy and/or Performance Feel on current and forward model programs from pre-program start to post-certification.

  • Ensure robust execution of Vehicle Energy Management Engineering (VEME) attribute deliverables for program milestones and engineering gateways to.

  • Manage interface between Program and Engineers, from the target setting process through development, verification, and certification phases.

  • Lead development and implementation of systems engineering to achieve targeted fuel economy while delivering performance feel DNA.

  • Develop CAE vehicle fuel economy and performance feel models.

  • Develop timing and test plans for design validation and conduct vehicle testing and validation of subsystem performance on various duty cycles.

  • Support vehicle drive events including preparation of all communication documents.

  • Champion attribute issue resolution plans.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Equivalent

  • Prior experience evaluating fuel economy and acceleration performance at the vehicle level

  • Exhibit functional understanding of powertrain systems and energy consumption throughout the vehicle.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to deal with a complex engineering base (Planning, Marketing, Engineering, Program, & Plant teams) in various countries/continents on a daily basis.

  • Self-directed with strong ability to support variety of projects with limited resources.

  • Creative thinker with ability to establish a systems engineering approach to developing solutions to difficult multivariable problems.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required for presenting analysis to management and working with interfacing attribute teams.

  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, MatLAB

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Technical Field of Study

  • 10+ years Vehicle Engineering/Automotive OEM Experience

  • Knowledge of Ford engineering systems and processes

  • Matlab/SCVSP/MoSuite experience

  • Class A CDL with air brakes endorsement

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 .
