General Summary
The Specialist, Information Technology Asset position is an expanded Help Desk role providing technical support for local and remote computers, tablets, phones, ensuring network connectivity, and vendor-specific hardware and software. In addition, the Specialist will take point in inputting, tracking, and maintaining hardware and software assets for Michelman’s global organization. This role will make hardware and software recommendations, create documentation, and recommend improvements in asset management policies to be evaluated by the Support Desk Manager. The Specialist, Information Technology Asset technician will work with the Procurement department on equipment acquisitions, hardware leases, maintaining our asset management database, and support the expansion to the global enterprise.
Primary Responsibilities
Issue, track, and recover equipment on short term (loaner) and long-term lease agreements
Work with our sites in Europe and Asia to assist their adoption of our centralized Asset Management System.
Provision, maintain, and secure mobile devices within the Microsoft 365 Intune client and Active Directory.
Help to minimize organizational cost through product standardization and tracking.
Maintain a log of quality issues with hardware throughout the product lifetime.
Collaborate with Procurement to follow asset governance guidelines consistent with departmental and/or company objectives.
Create service desk documentation regarding software approval and installation
Maintain, monitor and report on the hardware/software inventory database to ensure compliance, including licenses, warranties, and service agreements
Provide recommendations on vendors, manufacturers, and product versions based on self-conducted research
Provide Tier I support for hardware and software to local and remote users, including Windows laptops, monitors, printers, etc.
Critical Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Expert knowledge of Windows based hardware and software
Experience in a Microsoft Active Directory environment
Strong organizational and project management skills
Good communication skills and ability to coordinate across departments
Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
Understanding of business needs regarding hardware and software
Knowledge of licensing practices for hardware and software
Ability to create clear and concise instructions for technical staff and end user training
Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related major or equivalent experience
3+ years’ experience in Information Technology, Help Desk and/or Asset Support
Microsoft 365 and JD Edwards experience a plus
Other
Some after-hours work required for upgrades and troubleshooting
Ability to perform manual labor required in moving PC’s, monitors and printers up to 15 lbs.
