WKU is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to fill the role of Program Specialist for Career & Workforce Development a division of the Continuing & Professional Development Administration Office. This position is responsible for administering programs in Career & Workforce Development (CWD), while building and maintaining relationships with regional partners and will continue to develop and manage marketing plans for strategic recruitment initiatives for CWD programs. This position reports to the Director of Continuing & Professional Development.

The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

  • Coordinates programs in career and workforce development and other assigned areas

  • Works with internal and external partners to identify training needs

  • Works with internal and external partners to prepare agreements to deliver training

  • Collaborates with content experts on the development of training content to meet the needs of business/industry and the community

  • Identifies and assists with grant applications through the KY Economic Development Department and others

  • Coordinates, supervises, and assists in the evaluation of trainers

  • Assist the Director in the development of marketing plans, and strategic recruitment for career and workforce programs

  • Works with the Director to build and maintain relationships with regional external partners including chambers of commerce, economic development authorities, non-profit organizations and workforce investment entities; attending the meetings of these groups as appropriate (i.e. SHRM, HR Councils, and Chambers of Commerce events)

  • Assist the Continuing and Professional Development department with customer service request, and event management when requested

  • Other duties as assigned

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Minimum two years of experience in non-credit programming or training with external partners that might include education institutions, associations, businesses, and industries

    Additional Information:

Salary Range: $39,100 - $47,664
