Police Department Police Trainer/Instructor

Work location: 612 East Lamar Blvd, Arlington, TX 76011 – Location varies based on the department needs.

Work hours: Full Time, 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday. Varies based on the department needs.

Here’s What You Need

Education

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required Or

  • Bachelor's Degree Education, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, Law Enforcement, or closely related fields. is required

Experience

  • 5 Years of relevant work experience law enforcement. is required and

  • 2 Years of experience in law enforcement staff development, training, and/or teaching experience is required

Licenses and Certifications

  • DL - Drivers License Upon Hire is required

  • Peace Officer TCOLE Peace Officer Upon Hire is required

  • Peace Officer TCOLE Master Peace Officer Upon Hire is preferred

  • Other Taser Instructor 120 Days is required

  • Other TCOLE Firearms Instructor 120 Days is required

  • ACPI - Advanced Crisis Prevention Intervention Training 120 Days is required

What You Will Do

Assesses learning needs of specified teams and staff and identifies competency gaps.

  • Assists in defining goals and interventions to address these needs. Addresses all components necessary to be successful.

  • Evaluates knowledge, skills, and competency for completion of the orientation process.

  • Determines ability to manage training without oversight.

  • Works closely with staff supervisors to address issues or concerns.

Assists in maintaining a program for training needs identification and documentation. Partners with leaders across the Police and Security organization to prioritize and strategize the success of training implementations. Provides consultation in the analysis of potential options for training delivery. Assists with the identification, evaluation, and assessment of training technology and systems.

  • Develops role-based learning strategies and tools.

  • Works in collaboration with the leadership team to develop and maintain a system for tracking and monitoring a department on-boarding and training plan, with a focus on risk management.

  • Develops methodologies to measure and evaluate the outcome of training implementations

Develops presentations, facilitates meetings, and coordinates ?ǣtrain the trainer?ǥ programs.

  • Prepares simple, intuitive visual and narrative training materials and coordinates with other training personnel/ resources as needed.

  • Teach law enforcement, in-service, and basic peace officer courses.

  • Coordinate in-service training and continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve delivery methods.

  • Assist in the development of course curricula and instructional materials.

  • Secure appropriate textbooks and other instructional resources.

  • Promote the development and scheduling of continuing education courses. 50%

Understands emerging trends and promotes innovation in training methodologies.

  • Acts as a change agent in the identification, development, planning, implementation, and measurement of training strategies.

  • Disseminates findings and results of training initiatives using evidence-based methodologies.
