Siemens Energy Senior Electrical Designer in Alpharetta, Georgia

How You’ll Make an Impact

The specific responsibilities assigned to the position (but not limited to) are:

  • Design electrical room layout drawings – MV and LV Switchgear, Transformers, Motor Control Centers, Control System Cabinets, Breaker Panels, Miscellaneous panels

  • Generate single line diagrams for power distribution.

  • Cable engineering - Cable sizing, raceway design which includes overhead tray layouts, conduits and underground duct banks and cable routing.

  • Cable tray design and layouts, duct bank design and layouts, trench and conduit installation details

  • Grounding layout design, grounding installation details

  • Lighting Layout design, lighting installation detail

  • Prepare breaker panel schedules.

  • Prepare interconnection diagrams and wiring diagrams.

  • Experience laying out E-House

  • Heat Load calculation

  • Prepare Bill of Materials from the design / Estimating

  • Existing plant walkdown and surveying

  • Generate a construction specification.

  • Generate construction package.

  • CAD - Electrical layouts, cable and conduit layouts, lighting layouts etc.

  • 3-D Modelling of plant and electrical room layouts, cable trays and conduit layouts.

  • Reviewing and commenting vendor drawings

  • Working and coordinating with other discipline designers and engineers

  • Experience preparing control schematics for switchgear, switchboards, MCC-s, control and automation cabinets.

What You Bring

  • High School diploma required. Technical degree preferred.

  • 5+ years' experience with electrical design, drafting and engineering for heavy industrial plants.

  • Experience designing medium and low voltage power distribution equipment required.

  • Specifying electrical equipment preferred

  • Knowledge of industrial electrical codes, such as NEC, IEC, NEMA, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL and CE certifications. OSHA and MSHA regulation knowledge required.

  • Experience interfacing with customers and vendors and resolving comments and changes on documents and drawings.

  • Strong organization and excellent time management skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. Willing to travel domestic and international (approximately 10-20%)

  • Tested proficiency with the following modeling / PDMS or relevant software preferred: AutoCAD 2D/3D, AutoCAD Electrical, REVIT, COMOS, any other 3D Model (e.g., E3D, MicroStation, Bentley, NX), cable routing.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
